CFOs On the Move: Week Ending January 8

Online grocery platform Instacart appointed Nick Giovanni as finance chief, effective January 27. Giovanni worked for more than 20 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as head of its global technology, media, and telecom group. At Goldman Sachs, he advised clients on some of the largest financial transactions and public offerings of the last two decades, including Airbnb, DoorDash, Square, Twitter, Snap, Dropbox, Yelp, Zynga, and Ebay, as well as direct listings for Spotify and Slack. He also worked on high-profile M&A deals, including Slack’s sale to Salesforce, Credit Karma’s sale to Intuit, Spotify’s acquisition of podcast properties, Skype’s sale to Microsoft, and Zillow’s purchase of Trulia. During his tenure at Goldman Sachs, Giovanni held several roles with the company across its offices in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and San Francisco. Giovanni succeeds current CFO Sagar Sanghvi.

 

Vanna Krantz

Streaming education platform MasterClass appointed Vanna Krantz as chief financial officer. Krantz was most recently CFO at Disney Streaming Services, where she launched ESPN+ and Disney+. Krantz previously was the chief financial officer and a board member at Bamtech Media and held three different divisional CFO roles at Thomson Reuters. She currently serves as the audit chair and a board member for Skillz, a mobile gaming company.

The Golden State Warriors and Chase Center named Josh Proctor as chief financial officer. Proctor joins the NBA franchise from Nike, where he most recently served as the senior director of North America strategy. Before that, he spent four years as the vice president of strategic planning for the San Francisco 49ers. He also brings experiences from multiple stints at the Walt Disney Company, where he most recently served in the company’s corporate finance group, as well as strategy and business development roles at Gap.

 

Jody Macedonio

Jody Macedonio

Jody Macedonio is the new finance chief at Chobani. Macedonio has more than 20 years of experience as a finance executive in the consumer goods industry. Most recently, she served as CFO at 8th Avenue Food & Provisions. Before that, she was CFO at Dean Foods. Quickly rising through the ranks in senior finance roles at companies such as Henkel AG, PepsiCo, Nestle, and SmithKline Beecham, Macedonio has led complex turnarounds, productivity initiatives, restructurings, and large-scale post-acquisition integrations.

Randy Greben has been named CFO at meal-kit company Blue Apron. Greben was most recently finance chief at retailer Ann Taylor. Before that, he was chief financial officer and general manager at Amazon’s Quidsi division. Before Quidsi, Greben served as central finance director for Tesco’s U.S. venture, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets, and held finance roles at Taco Bell.

 

John Ederer

John Ederer

Cloud revenue management company Model N named John Ederer as CFO. Ederer has more than 25 years of financial leadership, having held senior finance positions at K2 Software, TIBCO Software, SAP, and Business Objects. Earlier in his career, he held senior investment banking positions focusing on the enterprise software and life sciences industries.

Former Domino’s Pizza finance chief Jeffrey Lawrence has been appointed CFO at healthcare apparel company FIGS. Lawrence, who retired from the pizza chain in December 2020 after five years as CFO and 20 years at the company, played a key role in the company’s digital transformation and international expansion.

 

Jonathan Halkyard

MGM Resorts hired Jonathan Halkyard as chief financial officer. Halkyard was most recently the president and chief executive officer at Extended Stay America and ESH Hospitality. Before that, he spent 13 years in leadership roles at Caesars Entertainment, starting in a finance role at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe and then held several finance roles, including vice president, treasurer, executive vice president, and CFO.

David Mutryn, senior vice president of finance at Maximus, will become CFO at the government services provider on December 1, 2021. Mutryn joined Maximus in 2016 as global corporate controller. Before that, he was vice president of finance at CSRA and held numerous financial leadership positions at SRA International. Mutryn takes over for Richard Nadeau, who will retire on November 30.

 

Rachel Ruggeri

Rachel Ruggeri

Rachel Ruggeri will become finance chief at Starbucks on February 1. Ruggeri is currently senior vice president of finance, Americas at the coffee chain. While working at the company, Ruggeri has held several finance positions, including vice president of corporate financial planning and analysis and senior vice president of finance for global retail. Ruggeri has previously held financial leadership roles supporting social service organizations and within the food and beverage industry, including serving as Continental Mills’ chief financial officer. Ruggeri takes over for Patrick Grismer, who will retire. Grismer will remain with the company as an advisor through May 2.

PCF Insurance Services hired Felix Morgan as chief financial officer. Morgan joins the insurance brokerage from telehealthcare and management platform CareXM, where he served as the CFO and chief operating officer. Before that, Morgan was the CFO at healthcare analytics and technology company Cotiviti.
