Zack Rinat
Founder, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Model N
Zack Rinat, Founder and CEO of Model N, is an expert in creating successful companies
and opening new markets for advanced technology. Prior to founding Model N, Mr.
Rinat co-founded NetDynamics, a leading enterprise software company widely acknowledged
as the creator of the exploding market for application servers and winner of
industry awards , including PC Magazine Editors' Choice, Internet Computing NetBest,
and Java World Editors' Choice. At NetDynamics Mr. Rinat served as President
and CEO until its acquisition by Sun Microsystems in 1998, and subsequently he
served as Vice President and General Manager of Sun's NetDynamics business unit.
As the first outside director of TradingDynamics, a startup Internet auction
technology company, he helped guide the company from inception to acquisition
by Ariba in less than a year. Previously he held senior management positions
in operations, marketing, and engineering at Silicon Graphics, Inc. (now SGI),
and at Advanced Technology Israel. Mr. Rinat has been a featured speaker or panelist
at events such as the Stanford MIT New Venture Forum, Cyberposium, Internet World,
HBS Alumni Association, Enterprise Outlook, and Internet Summit Korea. He received
a BS in computer science from the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) and
an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
James W. Breyer
Managing Partner, Accel Partners, Accel-KKR
Jim Breyer is the Managing Partner of Accel Partners and has been responsible
for Accel's involvement in over twenty-five companies that have completed public
offerings or successful mergers. He is currently a director of Lightspan (NASDQ:LSPN),
RealNetworks (NASDQ:RNWK), and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT). In addition
to Model N, he sits on the boards of a number of private Internet companies,
including Accel-KKR, AlphaBlox, Andale.com, BrassRing.com, Datasweep, eMac Digital,
Groove Networks, and Motive Communications. Earlier, Jim worked as a management
consultant at McKinsey & Company in New York and in product marketing and
management at Apple Computer and Hewlett Packard. A former President of the Western
Association of Venture Capitalists, Jim serves on the boards of the Associates
of the Harvard Business School, the National Venture Capital Association, Intel
64 Fund, Silicon Valley Community Ventures, the Stanford Engineering Venture
Fund, TechNet, and the Harvard Business School California Research Center. He
graduated from Stanford University with a BS in computer science and economics
and received an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration,
where he was named a Baker Scholar.
Mark Leslie
Managing Director, Leslie Ventures
Former Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of VERITAS Software
Mark Leslie served as Chairman of the Board of VERITAS Software (NASDQ:VRTS)
from 1997 through 2001. He began at the company in 1988 as a director and became
president and founding CEO when VERITAS was restarted as a software company in
1990. During his tenure as CEO, VERITAS went from 12 to 5,500 employees and attained
Fortune 1000 status. Prior to VERITAS Mark served as president and chief executive
officer of two Silicon Valley high-tech start up companies and has experience
in both engineering and sales in the computer industry. He currently sits on
the boards of three public companies: Brocade Communications (NASDQ:BRCD), Keynote
Systems (NASDQ:KEYN), and Avaya Corporation (NYSE:AV). Mark is also a director
of several privately held high-technology corporations, including Kenamea Software
Corporation, PostX Corporation, VMware and Zaplet Corporation. Mark received
a BA in physics and mathematics from New York University in 1966 and completed
Harvard Business School's program for management development in 1980.
Charles J. Robel
Chairman of the Board, McAfee, Inc.
Charles (Chuck) Robel is a veteran of several boards of leading public
and private companies, including current roles as Chairman of the Board of McAfee,
Inc. (NYSE:MFE) and as member of the Informatica, Inc. (NasdaqGS:INFA) and Adaptec
(Nasdaq:ADPT) boards. He served over 25 years at Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers),
ultimately as a partner leading the High Technology Transaction Services Group
in Silicon Valley advising on strategy, valuation, and structuring for mergers
and acquisitions, and he was partner-in-charge of the Software Industry Group.
Subsequently Chuck was a general partner, managing member, and chief of operations
at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners. His experience with high tech mergers and acquisitions
includes Yahoo, Hewlett Packard, and Microsoft. Chuck holds a B.S. in Accounting
from the Arizona State University.
Mark Garrett
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Adobe Systems Inc.
Mark Garrett serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Adobe Systems (NasdaqGS:ADBE). He has held similar positions at EMC Corporation’s Software Group (NYSE:EMC) and at Documentum, where he was instrumental in closing several acquisitions and ultimately in the sale of Documentum to EMC. Previously he held senior financial positions at IBM (NYSE:IBM)and Cadence Design Systems (NasdaqGS:CDNS). Mark holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and marketing from Boston University and a master’s degree in business administration from Marist College.
T. Michael Nevens
Senior Advisor, Permira; Director, McKinsey & Co. (retired)
Michael Nevens is a Senior Advisor to Permira, an international private equity firm with $30 billion under management. He also serves on the board of directors of Borland Software (NasdaqGS:BORL), Exeros Software, and Advanced Wireless Communications, and chairs the private sector advisory board for the Chief Information Officer of the State of California. In 2002 Michael retired as a Director of McKinsey & Co., having held a number of senior positions in the firm, including leadership of McKinsey’s global technology practice and membership on the board of the McKinsey Global Institute. He has been published on the topics of technology and strategy in The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, and The Harvard Business Review. Nevens holds a bachelor of science in physics from the University of Notre Dame and a master of science in industrial administration from the Krannert School at Purdue University, where he was designated a Krannert Scholar.
